Design & Décor Painting

I am in the process of redoing my craft/scrap room.

Looking for suggestions on paint colors for the walls. I am leaning towards a yellow or gold, but not sure about the coordinating colors.

    Hi Pamala,

Sounds like you got some great suggestions from Yamini! I love the idea of a craft/scrap room so I posed your question on our Hometalk facebook page as well: http://www.facebook.com/Hometalk You got some more feedback on facebook from Michelle, Marcy, Angie, Sherri, Patty ...»

and Marcela! We take color choice very seriously around here! :)

Let us know what you choose and post some pictures! Best of luck with your project.

    Miriam.

OK, after scouring the net most of the night and again today...I found another room for inspiration. Would love to hear some feedback on your thoughts. Blue room or yellow?

Hello again Pamela, I vote for yellow, white and black accents, I love blue too, but prefer yellow when it comes to a craft room.

YaminIM, are you picturing a vivid yellow like you the colors you mentioned earlier or a softer yellow? I HATE choosing paint colors, but love the thrill when I find the right one!! Thanks for all your help.

Pamala, the colors I mentioned are somewhat like the one in the first room. See how it is used in moderation with white dominating and black accenting? If you are going for this shade then paint one wall. A lighter version would be like the one in the second picture. If you are looking for something more lighter and creamier then see the third picture. But before you even think color, is the room well lit? Natural light or artificial? Even if you select the best color, it won't have the ...»
effect unless there is sufficient light in the room. For a well lit room, yellow will brighten the space and make it cheery. People assume painting a lighter color in a dark room will make it come alive, this is wrong when there is no light, color will never come alive. If you have access to the SW website let me know, I'll walk you through some colors.

    • A brighter yellow, used in moderation
    • This yellow is much lighter then the previous color and is used liberally
    • A much lighter and creamier yellow, this color can be tricky sometimes!

If you are not a big fan of yellow, then use it sparingly ...I love the blue walls and yellow accents and white...that is a really Happy Theme!

YaminIM, after seeing the pics you posted, I think I am gonna do the yellow walls. Gonna try to get samples this weekend.

I am a big fan of yellow (sunshine yellow) not too "goldy" . You could coordinate with blue or grey and it would be beautiful.

We painted our kitchen walls buttercup yellow by Sherwin Williams and the cabinets and trip work antique white. It looks so nice and fresh. With so much white, the bright yellow really pops and is not overpowering.

I finally chose a color, after 10 sample cans. I ended up with Jekyll clubhouse yellow. It's a nice buttery yellow. I'll post pics when the walls are complete. THANKS EVERYONE for your suggestions, it's been a big help!

Terry, originally wanted to go with black white and yellow...but after seeing this bedding set, I think I will be adding blue to the combo too. I think this color combo would work better in a craft room.

During my own remodel, I was forbidden from making paint selections. I had to insist when it came to my office. I am glad there are some people that have vision and ability to coordinate. Hope you enjoy your newly painted room!
