Fabric Topped Dresser
I needed a dresser that could double as a changing table for my newborn daughter and this $40 guy from Craigslist was perfect. I gave the hardware a soaking in Brasso to give them a new lease on life. The dresser got a coat of Annie Sloan chalk paint in Napoleonic Blue. And then the creme de la creme… the fabric topper. I had the fabric on hand already, but I took a tip from Martha Stewart and used polycrylic and a hot iron to seal the fabric to the top. I love that it's just a hint of fun and pattern!
The before. Not bad shape, but not my style… I checked for a maker's mark and didn't find any reason not to paint.
2 soakings in Brasso and the one of the left shone through. The one on the right has had only one session of polish and scrubbing with steel wool.

This is beautiful! We have the same old dresser set. Did you sand or strip the dresser first?
Did you put the poly on the top of the dresser then the fabric, then more poly on top of the fabric? When did you iron it. I'm confused. Also how did you keep the edges from fraying.
