How to Hang Items on Plaster Walls

$5
15 Minutes
Easy
Have an old house or plaster walls? Here is an easy technique to hang items on plaster walls that won't damage them. And it's with tools you already have.
The secret is using screws instead of nails. You'll measure where to hang your art and drill to make a hole for the anchor and screw.
Make sure to use painters tape to catch the dust and you'll be able to safely and securely hang items on plaster walls with little mess.

I have been struggling to hang a few things, but when I try to drill into my plaster walls (house was built in 1900!) I can only drill about 1/4 of the way, no matter where I try. I can't possibly be hitting a metal stud each time! Any ideas?

    How heavy can you go??...thanks
    • @Homebody Hi. For the screws in the wall, I usually go by what I can lift, probably about 10 pounds? If an item seems heavier, I might try another method, but we haven't hung anything very heavy yet.
