Refinishing an old painted tin ceiling

I am interested in buying a Victorian home built in the late 1800's. The house has beautiful wood work, soapstone fireplaces, stained glass windows and a lovely tin ceiling in the kitchen. The ceiling has been painted a number of times and i was wondering if there's a way to remove the paint and refinish the tin to it's original condition.

If it were any other place I'd use a heat gun, but not sure about the ceiling! That'll be a job reaching upwards with paint remover.

You more than likely will encounter lead paint under the surfaces. Why not repaint in a beautiful shade to compliment your kitchen? I repainted mine in a chocolate brown with a bronze glaze over it and I love it...

The only way I could think of to do this is to get the kind of paint stripper that you apply, then put a fabric strip over the back and pull off the paint after it's softened. Or you could take off the panels, soak them and put them back up after they're stripped. You could try this with just one to see if it will work.
