Flooring: I am remolding my hall bath.

I have installed the backerboard on the floor but just realized that the floor is not level. What should I do? I am really stuck because the backer board is already down. Can I use a self leveling compound over the backer board.

I want a stone look but do not want to pay for stone. Any ideas on tile or some other material/product that will help me achieve this look?

and below. This is a Building code thing. and varies by the size of the fireplace opening. Big fireboxes (> = to 6 sq feet) require 12" on the sides 20" for the front. This is in section R1001.11 of the 2006 IRC

Tile is still king in the kitchen...you can often find some basic Ceramic or porcelain for ...»
under $2 a square...labor can run from 6 to 10 to get it installed but this will give you the best most durable floor.

On the cheaper side DIY with Traffic master Allure Plank vinyl flooring is only about $1.80 a foot and you can install it yourself.

Remodeling: My living room, dining room and kitchen are all combined.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to break the rooms up. My ceilings are very high therefore there is a lot of blank wall space. Any ideas?
