I had Plantation Shutters installed, with large panels. Works beautifully.

Mhowlett, you can also consider various glazing options on glass.

A simple and cheap option to make your glass look opaque is to buy the patterned film on a roll which most hardware stores - especially the larger chains, will stock. It is specifically for this purpose. It is so easy to cut to size and apply. You clean the glass, spray the film with water with some baby shampoo mixed in with it, after cutting it to size - leave about 2cm extra around the edges, peel the backing off the film then smooth the film onto the glass and cut the excess off with a Stanley knife or similar blade. We did this for our front door on the 4 glass panels so that people could not see straight through the house. It stays on really well but can be peeled off if you get tired of it.
