What can I do about small bugs eating my mint plant. I live in a rather wooded area, lots of pine trees.

depends on what kind of bugs you have and if you are using the mint for cooking.

Can you describe the bug or the holes how it is affecting your mint?

    Hi Frances,

You can purchase insecticides at any Home Depot or Lowes, however if you don't want to use chemicals because you want to enjoy the mint, you can try garlic. Soak 3 to 4 ounces of chopped garlic bulbs in 2 tablespoons of mineral oil for one day. Dissolve 1 tsp of fish emulsion in a pint of water and add it to your solution. Stir. Strain liquid and store in a glass container - not metal! ...»

Dilute 1 part solution to every 20 parts of water. Kills aphids, mosquitoes, onion flies and vampires.

Thanks for the information. I had healthy plants until about a month ago then I discovered holes in the leaves and a small black and green bug which eventually consumed a lot of my mint. I tried a mixture of dish detergent and water (1:10) but it burned up the plant. Then I trimmed the entire plant back but the bugs seem to be coming back with the new growth.
