How long will a mid-range outdoor fire pit table last me?

I was informed that powder coated ones are best, I would assume all of them are. Cast aluminum frames are definitely going to be the construction, I need it to go with my patio sectional and am deciding on this particular one: http://www.portablefireplace.com/product.php?productid=254&cat=14&page=1 .Please let me know if you think it looks good or if I should purchase a higher end model!

Hi John, I like the looks of this model...very sleek and "hip!" Are you using it with natural gas or propane? I would imagine that the unit should give you several years of use if maintained per manufacturer's guidelines. Does the bottom have adequate drain ports to inhibit rust developement? I'd see what this will do for a starter "test-run" and either replace with similar or upgrade. Intense heat will age almost any metal device especially with constant exposure to the elements...maybe one of those off-set 12' umbrellas would help protect it. John the best way to make it last is to cover it when you are not using it, some have a cover that you can purchase.

Natural gas? propane? whats up with that? Wood man. good old fashioned wood! and for how long it lasts depends on if you have a nice little fire or if you have a barn burner. My neighbor had barn burners and killed theres in less then a summer. I have nice little fires and turn it so water doesn't collect when it rains and put it away in the winter and I still have mine. I wanted a nice little fire pit to sit by my pond in the summer and enjoy the warm summer evenings with.

Just out of curiousity, why do you even have to have the fire pit table? My son in law has a fire pit out in his back yard with the wall & just throws the wood into it... Than you won't have to worry abt replacing anything.

I have a mid-range $ mosaic/metal free standing firepit, it was great for a few years till I neglected one winter. Now it is covered in rust. take care of it! cover when not in use.

I also don't leave the bowl in place unless using it so it won't fill with water. I tip it up in an inverted or upside down position. this helps avoid rust. I also put it away in the winter.
