How can I keep my area rug from wrinkling under my coffee table?

The area rug is on top of carpet but somehow it keeps getting a wrinkle in it. I'm constantly pulling the wrinkle out.Any advice?

Double faced tape ...Roll up the carpet , and start applying tape 6' from top and side of edges ..Pull off wax paper and press to ' whatever ' repeat this process on top of roll to the end rolling the carpet as you go ..It's IMPORTANT , that before you stick carpet down it's where you want it ..If you ever go to move it , then you will have to pull it all the way over . then slide where you want it ..Hope this helps .. :)

Go to Lowes or Home Depot, ask the person in the carpet department what 'underlayment' you need. The 'bubble/rubber' ones are for use between an area rug and a hard surface. The 'felt ones' are for use between area rugs and carpet. If using the 'felt' one READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! There is a clear film that needs to be peeled off before putting into place.

go to the dollar store and get shelf underlaying...stuff...it is plastic and prevents things from moving. Cheap and it works. Comes in different colors. Nursing homes use it under patients butts in wheelchairs so they don't fall out.

I would not use duct tape because you will not be able to get the glue adhesive off whatever it is applied to. Would hate to replace carpet in the whole room if you ever changed your rug size. Use the rubber shelf liner that is designed to keep things from sliding around. A rug pad would do the same thing but would be more expensive.

I recently discovered putting one of those plastic desk chair carpet pads under the 
 rug will prevent it from moving. It really works I put 2 under my large area rug.
Costco has the best price.

To avoid mats and rugs moving and sliding......I put some 'lines' on the edges with the silicone of a hot glue gun.... let it dry well and problem solved!

This solution may not be right for everyone but I've been doing this for many years and it works for me: If you have carpet flooring with an area rug under a coffee table you can SCREW the area rug to the bottom of your coffee table with heavy duty screws and large washers. Once attached your rug will never wrinkle or move around again.
