I purchased a Madame Rosy trumpet vine.

I have read that trumpet vines are highly invasive. Do you think that it would be safe on two story deck in a large pot as long as I watched out for runners? I was looking for a Tangerine Beauty cross-vine but couldn't find one anywhere so I settled for the invasive little bugger until I can find a C.V.

It may not have been what you wanted, Carol, but you made a good choice with Madame Rosy. Because it is a hybrid between the native trumpet vine (Campsis radicans) and Chinese trumpet vine (Campsis grandiflora), it is seedless. So you don't have to worry about it being invasive. And it is said to be less rampant a grower, although I would take any such claim about a trumpet vine with a grain of salt. Having it in a pot, however, should keep it in check.

I totally agree with Douglas and think you will have fun growing them in big pots. Giving you more opportunities to add color at the bottom of the pot too.
