Reupholstering a Simple Bench

It helps to gather all your tools ahead of time. Remove the seat from the wooden frame, and sand and paint the frame.
While the paint on the frame is drying, carefully pull apart the existing layers of the seat. You may be able to salvage everything except the fabric, which will save money and time.
When attaching the new fabric, staple once on one side, then on the opposite side. Then staple again a few inches away. Don't fill in between the staples until you've checked to see the fabric is lined up and correctly stretched on the front side.
Once you're finished stapling around the flat sides, pull extra fabric over one of the corners and fold it so that the corner looks like a "V". Staple underneath and on top of the "V".
Reattach the upholstered seat to the wooden frame and enjoy your new bench!
