Painting with Chalk Paint

Hi all: I ran out of primer and decided to use someone's advice on using chalk paint for the primer. I used it on my door trim after one coat of Zinser 123. I had a few nicks and the chalk paint filled it in. My house is 40 years old and the door molding looks great. I intend to paint with latex or SW acrylic paint. My question is... Do I need to sand down the chalk paint or can I just paint over it. I am letting it dry overnight.
The recipe I used for the chalk paint was latex paint mixed with Joint Compound [which is basically Calcium carbonate]
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I would sand it lightly.

sand lightly just to make sure it is smooth..I love chalk paint and plan on doing my kitchen walls with it when I remodel.

Thank you both, I will lightly sand. I cannot believe how smooth it looks. I am going to seal with a semigloss latex paint since it is on door trim. Now I cannot wait to work on some kind of furniture project.

Dee, You really do not have to put anymore paint on it..seal with a poly-acrylic and it will last for ever.

I'd rather not use poly, that is why I figured sealing with paint would do the trick.
