unusual furniture

For those of you that have tried to help me identify this piece, I am now asking for your creative side to help me decide what to do with this. I have painted it and added new draw nobs (which I love) they have crowns on them so I thought I would do the crown stencil but I don't like it. I have a chair that I plan to paint that will go with it nicely pretty much matching the designs. I was thinking of adding another color for trimming. I don't like the way it looks. Any suggestions? ?? Should I do it for an adult or maybe a tween? So many of you are very talented please help as I am just getting into painting furniture for resale. Thank you to all that have helped me.
Small desk / vanity. Measurements are 22in. wide by 16in. deep and 46in. tall to the top. 27 in. tall to the top of the desk part. Not to big at all.

Seems too small for a desk. The shelf seems strange for a desk too. You are right about the crown. I would add another color. I like the blue on the chair in the picture. It would give it depth and presence.

The color is great. I would actually have put the crown stencil right in the middle above the top shelf...

Do you think I should keep the crown, I didn't think it looked good

what a unique piece- I like the crown- you could even add flourishes or French script around it

I think this was meant to be for an entry hall to catch keys, gloves, etc. or perhaps a plant stand. I would add a crown stencil above the little shelf, as I think the color is fine. Somehow I think a chair would detract from the unusual appeal of the piece, as there would be no comfortable way to sit at it unless the chair was really low....just saying. I like the color, but you could add a trim color and not hurt its look.

Thank you for the help. I was thinking of a trim color as well.

I think this is a total "marriage" of strange parts. Is there any indication this was a hanging shelf with drawers? I'd like to see a picture of the back and maybe one of how the legs are attached. A shelf that someone added legs to for some crazy reason? I think if you paint a piece, you need to give it the shabby look with some sand paper in a few places.

Maybe it is a telephone table

I would add some gold highlight to your crown or maybe outline it in black

I would place crown above small shelf and edge shelf and holding bracket in the color of the crown. Would be pretty if it was royal blue on that beautiful blue you have now.

This piece looks to be cobbled together. Saying that I think it is very cute. Your stenciled crown though is too small. Adding flourishes and an accent color (maybe copper or bronze) is a wonderful idea. Have fun!

Could it be a sewing stand, and a candle was placed on that little top shelf ? Interesting. I'd maybe distress it and use a dark wax or glaze.

I know , it is different but I like it. The distressing and dark wax is a good idea also. Thanks

I think this is a valet (small dressing table). I like the color you chose.

I love it! I would probably distress it a bit see if that works. Then maybe put on some dark wax. You are right it's good now but it needs a little something! ( have you decided yet? Done anything? ) I would love to see!

I did distress it a bit more and I sold it.
