I'm needing recommendations for trendy home decor wholesale companies.

We refinished furniture by hand with chalk paint. Our goal is to offer a Vintage/French trendy accessories product that appeals to many decorating styles. We have a booth in a Antique Mall and doing a outdoor craft show this spring and fall. Looking to expand our little business. Thanks!! A Vintage Charm (Texas)

The little shops in our town like to do their own painting, as you do. Either get into more antique malls or sign up for more antique shows/flea markets. But I think opening a shop of your own, with room for you to paint in the back is a better way to go. Then you can also promote your shop at your current antique mall and when you do the craft show. Get into some flea markets too or antique shows. It just takes time.

Attention: @The Robin's Nest . Rhonda, I know you have places you go to buy things for resale. Do you know of any that could help Sharon out?

Over the years talking to people I hear the same comments from seller/buyers with Antique Malls,,,Seller that the competition among booths and the constant raising rent prices causes less profit for sellers. Buyer comments are the fact that everything is usually overpriced due to the inflated costs of paying the price of rent to the building owners. Also buyers feel that most items are bigger ticket items in antique mall type places and less chance of having a section of less expensive, maybe not mint condition finds, or unusual "what do you use this for" items that make great conversation pieces around somebody's home.

@Karen Ryan Yes, I agree, it's tough to be in an antique mall, but some pieces are too large to move around to flea markets. You find better deals at flea markets, usually. But it's sure fun to shop in antique malls! And I'm glad a few have survived as we look for them when we travel. Travelers usually don't have room for the big pieces either. It's just a tough market anymore! Flea markets and antique shows keep raising their booth rents too, but a lot of my friends still do them! I love them both and both have their good and bad points. If you don't mind staying at your own shop day after day, that's the way to go! But advertise to get the business to you.

Chalk paint is great and easy but if you wax it, it will appeal to more buyers. It looks more contemporary. Do classes through community ed. I am not sure what you are looking for, but with a million years of successful retail, I can give you more information.

I too have a small space in an antique mall co-op & offer a mix of vintage & new products. I also struggle to find new items at wholesale prices - Etsy Wholesale has been a great solution! Good luck

Hi - As an owner and buyer of a garden gift shop, I can tell you that a lot of people pull up in their vehicles with ready to sell items. They ask us if we can take a look and quite often we will purchase items for resale.

For one, it's easy. We're not looking in a catalog, we can see the quality and size. There's no figuring in freight or minimum orders.

Your item just may become that unexpected thing to add interest to our store!

If you're interested in wholesaling to mom and pop shops I encourage you to give it a try!

There are folks who value what you have to offer!
