SK's Hate of Shiny Fridge's

When someone insists on stainless steel appliances on a project I cringe. Not that they aren't beautiful, they are. But I hate keeping them fingerprint free. I always recommend a stainless steel fingerprintless appliance. Or do what is necessary and remedy the problem with, Ta Da! Paint...
I mixed a non-sanded grout with my latex paint. Which essentially makes it a chalkboard paint.
I used a black paint left-over from another project.
I didn't want to paint the entire refrigerator so I masked off areas which would be fun to make chalk notes on.
I use a small smooth roller brush. This seems to cover nicely. I painted three coats.
My simple hand-cut stencil
I used the stencil to paint on some of the straight edges. This breaks up the monotony of plain rectangles.
This proved successful to kids who wish to draw without getting into trouble. It is also a great way to keep a calendar at hand and a place for notes. sk

I have to agree with the hate of stainless steel....our fridge (WHITE) that I loved went out on us New Year's Day. Can you believe Sears was actually open??!! Hubby knew I liked the freezer drawer on the bottom so he brought home a lovely model with all the bells and whistles....but in stainless! UGH. Fingerprints sent me into a tail spin. Fortunately, I found that Pledge has a "Stainless appliance cleaner" and it really does the trick. Shew! Another thing I hate about stainless is nothing magnetic sticks to the front. Sides only. Bah. My neighbor says she uses a little dot of baby oil on a damp cloth and then polishes hers dry. I have to admit that it must work, because there are never fingerprint smears on her fridge. Oh, and the reason my wonderful WHITE fridge quit working?? Dog hair had clogged up the fans underneath and behind the fridge..... We'll be making sure to pull the new one out to vacuum under there instead of just using a brush wand to swipe!!!
