Traditional Dresser Makeover {Napoleonic Blue}

A few years ago I picked up this dresser as a birthday present for myself. And yes, it has taken me two whole years to figure out what to do with it. It had all three drawers, but they were falling apart and the wood was splitting everywhere. I tried to save the drawers but everything I did just backfired. So...out with the drawers and in with some shelves.Seems like everything I do lately has a two tone color scheme, but I really love the contrast and certainly like to maintain some of the natural wood. For this project, I painted the entire body in ASCP Napoleonic Blue with dark wax. I stained the shelves and top in a nice rich walnut.
After removing the drawers and the framework that held them in place, I had my husband cut plywood to size for the three shelves. We then used some quarter round to finish off the edges.
I think the navy and dark bown stain compliment each other so well.
Cute with the wicker baskets, or mesh/wire baskets would be nice too.
Gorgeous wood grain top

    Great idea! I have a tallboy dresser that was given to me. Someone spray painted it white and the drawers have a ton of problems. I'm using it as-is for now in my office/craft room, but when I have the time, I want to strip and repair it. Hopefully I can come up with something as nice as what you did.
