I'm currently painting a velvet chair, so stay tuned for details on how that turns out. I'm also doing my outdoor cushions, AND have just spray painted some other outdoor cushions with regular paint here: http://www.11magnolialane.com/2014/04/07/diy-experiment-use-regular-spray-paint-on-outdoor-cushions/

My apologies! I read our original post not the one that broke down this much details. So sorry to offend you.

@Mitziblueyes No worries--you didn't offend me. But I did think you were kidding!

I have a VERY nubby, textury fabric on an overstuffed armchair with separate back and seat cushions, + a big rectangular ottoman to match. It is HID-E-OUS!! How would paint do if the fabric were not smooth?????? Thanks in advance, I have learned a lot. :-))

@Vicki K OK, here's the thing…the more "nubby" the fabric, the harder the paint is when it dries because you need to use more coats to cover it thoroughly. I painted a velvet chair a few weeks ago using the exact same technique and it was much stiffer than this gray chair when I was done. You'll need to play around with it and either increase the amount of fabric medium in your ratio, or even consider using the chalk paint/soft wax combination that other bloggers seem to think works so well (just FYI, I haven't used that technique myself, though). And maybe test it on a small section of the ottoman first? Good luck! --Christy
