5 Clever New Uses for Tin Cans

One of my daughter's chores is unloading and loading the dishes, and every time she notices a tin can in the dishwasher she says, "Mom, we don't have room for this," with great teenage exasperation.
Needless to say, she's grown a little weary of my growing tin can collection. But, I love having tin cans on hand.
I've tried explaining to her that you just never know when you're going to need one, and I give her convincing examples like these 5 clever new uses for tin cans.
I'm a big believer in "a place for everything and everything in its place." So, I've put this wire caddy with tin cans by the door where we come into the house. The cans hold loose change, chalkboard markets, pens, etc.
Tin cans make great vases. This one holds the flag centerpiece in my 4th of July buffet.
I also use tin cans "behind the scenes" to provide lifts and levels as Christopher Lowell calls it. In this case, the can lifted the candle.
Use a tin can to soak paint brushes.
And one of my favorites: I pour cooking grease into a tin can, let it harden then throw it away.
