Countertop

We are redoing our kitchen from the floors to the lighting. I found a FABULOUS countertop yesterday that I can't afford. Any suggestions other than making it myself :( It is called Luna Nero Leathered Metallic by Walker Zanger. I have an alternate that I had previously thought was very nice, but the Luna Nero is hard to forget.

    Forgot to mention it's granite.

Luckily, granite is natural so no matter what man's name is on it, it can be found elsewhere. See if you can find an importer and take your description or sample to him. He can probably tell you the generic name for it and what country it comes from. That in itself can help you find it as many distributors lock in the country they are showing marbles and granites from - like Italian marble. But Creation didn't see fit to put all beauties in one location. Good luck. PS: there are large markets of granite in FL, NY and LA from an importers point of view. Many times one of these importers can ship to one of its distributors in an area closer to your neighborhood.

You could use something less expensive for most of the kitchen and put this granite on an island or some small area. It is possible to get most granite in tiles as well as slab. Using granite tiles saves lots of money.

Thanks for the info. Wouldn't shipping it be almost as costly when dealing with someone overseas, though? Hubby has about convinced me to go with our original pic and take a trip with what we save:)

Thanks, Sandy. Room can't hold an island. I may try to copy the color/design and apply it somewhere else in the room.

Just take a deep breath and pause. You might find something that satisfies your taste. Remember you have a budget and that piece of granite might not be worth it. Actually, the trip sounds better to me. A couple of years from now you will have lost your fascination with this granite and wished you had taken that trip!

You sound exactly like my best friend and my husband. So I have reconsidered and might try to find it in a tile for some trim work. Or at least something like it. Thanks.

Do you have a picture of the granite? to post here. if not the next time you go to the store maybe you would want to take a picture then you can compare it with counter tops

The kitchen is complete except for our backsplash which we are still deciding on. Feel free to take a look on my page. We are very happy with the results, although we went with a more cost effective granite.
