Dried caulk removal

I had the outdated tub/shower fixtures replaced over a year ago. The guy I hired did a terrible job caulking around the newly installed drain. The caulk dried on and in the drain preventing the drain cap from closing completely. Does anyone know how to remove the dried caulk without ruining the chrome finish?

I had good success using a flat razor blade. The razor should be as flat as possible, like the kind that goes into a utility knife, and not have nubs or edges that poke out. Hold the razor nearly flush with the surface and press through the caulk to cut as much off as you can without touching the chrome. Then, use a fingernail to rub off the thin layer that remains. When you're done, polish the chrome finish with car wax to seal up any microabrasions.
  • You can also get a hand scraper which has the razor blade on it. It is easier to handle and will get the job done in no time! Good Luck

I was going to suggest a razor blade as well. It should work great!
