Mosaic Bowling Ball

I really like mosaic furniture but wanted to try and make something on my own that wasn't too big, so I picked up a small bowling ball at the local thrift shop and made this one. I bought some old china saucers and shattered them with a hammer (very carefully) under a towel. I followed the tutorials online to put it all together. It's far from being perfectly round and smooth but I like it that way. :)

I love it! I'm working on one with more brilliant colors. I'm still looking for an outdoor waterproof grouting. I've got the bottom done & waiting for it to dry. Tomorrow I will flip it over and complete the top. I'm also going to do one using buttons. I've got sooo many and it will be so much fun! Anyways, I wanted to let you know that I really like your ball. I have done several penny balls and cemented a steel rod in the large hole so I can secure in the ground. Mine all are outside balls.

Aw thanks @Barbara! Waiting for it to dry drove me crazy but so well worth the wait :) I can't bring myself to use the china one outside yet but I do have one I use outside that I made with pennies. I think they are pretty cool looking!! I'm not sure if I posted it but I put on one layer of pennies then added another layer on top...no grout needed!! I found it added more depth and interest too. I put it on the ground in my garden since it's supposed to keep the snails away...not sure if it 's working though lol. I gathered as many pennies as I could since they're not minted here anymore. I have to say I love buttons! That will be sooo cute too!! Post a picture if you get the chance so I can see. :)
