Newly planted hydrangeas to bloom in July?in

My son and fiancé are having an outdoor wedding in our back yard. The bride is using hydrangeas and babies breathe. We planted in March in the perfect place, but everything I read states to not expect blooms the first year. Is there anything I can do to ensure they bloom by July, even if small blossoms?

The age of the plants you put in is what affects blooming. If you planted small one-year old plants, it's very unlikely you will see blooms. If you planted three-year-old plants of some size, however, you should certainly expect to.

Thank you Doug for your help. I better go looking for 5 gallon plants. Hopefully they are 3 years or older. Happy Holiday!!

Honestly I'm not sure. I know they are blue and in one gallon pots. Obviously, I'm no horticulturist...LOL ;). I appreciate your commenting.
