Bathroom Makeover

Here is our bathroom project so far.

No, I'm not looking to update the guy, he's pretty great, but the bathroom in this 1970's trailer needed a lot of help. As I seldom remember to take pictures of before, the guy above will appear in several pics to come. Here is our old, gross, shower enclosure.

I'd painted the old particle board cabinets as an in-between fix. The green looks a little loud in the photo but it was really cute with the aqua walls, no really, I mean it.

The sad, scratched old sinks and the faux marble countertop to match the faux marble tub surround.

I collect tiles for mosaics. I didn't want to make a mosaic for this bathroom but dh insisted he wasn't moving those tiles around in his shed one more time. So mosaics it was. My colours were limited so we went with a fish design. Dh wanted a treasure chest at the bottom of the sea. So here is the mosaic, going up.

I can't tell you why I can't re-orient this picture but you get the idea. Dh also wanted a sea horse.

Now that you have a crook in the neck I'll stop posting the mosaic.

Still don't know what's happening with the orientation, nevertheless, I've added another picture. I had an old terry cloth shower curtain and a very old fish shower curtain. Added the latter to the bottom of the first, and voila, a long shower curtain. FYI, there was an old dirty glass enclosure here before, but we got rid of it as I was tired of cleaning the slimy soap out of the tracks.

We couldn't afford to replace the cabinet so my solution was to resurface it and the back wall. We also picked up these sinks for a very reasonable price so they went in next. The countertop tiles are from my tile collection. I had just enough to do the job. And we managed to pick up the taps at a liquidation store for a pittance. My kind of shopping. I re-used the old mirrors. Added a larger frame and bags full of shells.

My mom didn't want this towel rack anymore. I liked it so here it is.

Found this at the Salvation Army store. Love it.

Well that's it for now. I don't know why I can't fix the orientation but perhaps the post will be right side up. If not sorry. I'll have to tackle that via the edit function.

The bathroom is still incomplete we need to repaint the vinyl floor white and I'm working on an embroidery project for the open cabinet. Adding the vessel sinks means that the doors we found at the ReStore and repainted simply won't work there so I bought a canvas stretcher, sketched another sea horse on some white fabric and embroidered feature to hide the ugly open shelves is in the works.

Thank you Wanda and Jeanette. The bathroom is now yellow, the green was lovely with the aqua walls, but for some reason once the mosaic went up the aqua walls looked cold. I was going to pick driftwood to go on the walls to contrast with the white counter and cabinet but I somehow left the store with a pale, sunny yellow in hand. It's cheerful. Bryan, dh, is painting the floor white, almost all done yeah!! Just a few decorative touches to go as we can afford them.
