I sold my home in 4 days with 2 offers in a depressed market 3 years ago. I had fresh paint, put up new drape hardware and some drapes, everything off the counters except for knife block and coffee pot. All bedding was cleaned and fresh, all carpets were cleaned, I took down all my pictures except for a few and patched and painted the patches. Every thing was cleaned and purged, all drawers. all cabinets, all light bulbs were cleaned, all lamp shades, windows were cleaned, all excess furniture stored. I loved it, it was so clean and clutter free, you could walk through it with worrying you were going to knock something over. Since the, I sold tons of my stuff at a auction and I love the much simpler, cleaner look.

When my divorced son met his (now) fiancee, they decided to start looking at a new home for themselves and it all happened very fast...! They quickly found the perfect home and he hadn't even started preparing his house for sale, so all the family and friends got together for a "busy bee" and within a week the house was decluttered.... every room was painted neutral.... the swimming pool was sparkling and the gardens manicured to perfection. The following weekend the house was "OPEN " for viewing and within 45 minutes he had SOLD it......! He received four offers ABOVE his asking price and accepted the highest offer, which was a very good price and he was thrilled to bits by the fast result......! He thanked us all for our contributions to getting the house ready in such a short time. Let me just add, the house was not a highly-priced mansion, but it allowed him and his fiance to start preparing for their life together and they've never been happier. It would have been difficult for him to do all that with the help of family and friends coming together. I'm such a proud Mum...... :)
