DIY Painted Bottle Lamp

I'm working on bits and pieces for my craft room, and one thing I desperately need in the attic is lighting. And although track lighting is great, there's nothing like a good ol' lamp for a cozy feel. So, I figured I'd try this trend of making bottle lamps, especially since you can buy bottle lamp kits at the hardware store. And since we have a stocked liquor cabinet, I would only need to wait until some unique liquor bottles became available for crafting!
Instead of spray-painting the outside of the bottle, I chose to swirl paint inside the bottle, so I could retain the glossy look and the smoothness of the glass.
This is made from a Springbank scotch bottle. I picked this one because the words are molded into the glass, and not etched, giving it more texture.
I made one other lamp for a somewhat matching set. The other bottle was a Bulleit whiskey - the shape and size is different, but by painting them the same and using matching lampshades, I've got a pair of beautiful lamps!

This is very unique! How do you get the hole in the bottle, and what tools did you use?

I did a bottle lamp from a large wine bottle. I you don't want to drill there are lamp kits at at Lowe's and Home Depot that don't need a hole.
