Vintage Valances

Linda J
by Linda J
These darling window valances hung in the room my sister and I shared as little girls over 30 years ago. They were hand-made by my grandmother. I love the colors and details, and would like to repurpose or display them in some other way. I would love to hear your suggestions/ideas. Thanks in advance

I love them! They'd be adorable as pillows - pick a nice thick /fabric in a bold color to accent the little flower girls. Then cut these out, I'm thinking a nice square around them to keep the feel of the original, embroider it in the center of the fabric and make a pillow!

Would look cute added to top and bottom of a blanket or throw. Or frame them I collect handmade needlepoint hand work-if you do this use anti fade glass. Some of my older pieces are starting to yellow

This is a Sunbonnet Sue design and is often seen on vintage or historic quilts. (and my favorite pattern!) Using them to make pillows would be a lovely way to 'up-cycle' your grandmother's work. Or you could commission a quilt using them as well.

I was at my Doctors office the other day. They mounted full quilts under glass in one room, in another they had the quilts mounted but not under glass. They were stunning! Just as this ine is stunning!

Definitely do NOT cut them up if you want to retain the vintage/antique value! I would get a couple of wall hanging rods and hang them in your bedroom or.......... You could also give one to your sister. I have a quilt my grandmother made with the Sunbonnet Sue pattern that I use in my guest bedroom. Very cute!

I would display them as others have mentioned. I love those little girls, as you can see from the headboard on my bed!

They could be framed up as artwork...and placed on the wall in a set.

I just had this made for my Granddaughter. The dresses and bonnets were made from my mothers dress as a little girl
