We have a bad rat problem here in and around our country home. They burrow under the house mainly but we have found them inside as well. Indoors we have 1 dog and 1 cat and outside we have 6 dogs (I cant stand 1/2 of them but I dont want to poisen them either lol). HELP. Ive tryed the bucket trap and worked for a little while then nothing. I need something effective but cheap and safe for pets. Any help is appreciated.

  • Here is a link that will provide you with the answers your looking for. The only true method of ridding yourself of these critters is to prevent them from getting in. Having lived on a horse farm growing up we also had this same issue. We tried everything from poisons, traps even spending nights with a 22 rifle shooting them. What we found that worked the best was simply filling the holes with powder cement and pour a small bucket of water on it and spreading soil over the top. Of course we also had to practice better house cleaning. Grains were stored in steel containers and any other food sources were closely guarded. The difficult part is that these critters breed fairly fast and you need to get really pro active on blocking holes and removal of any possible trash that they can get into and eat. Over time they will begin to diminish and it will become easier to remove them and to keep them away. http://www.wildlife-removal.com/ratrepellent.html
