Why Raised Garden Beds
Basil in a 4x4 raised bed...easier to weed and control grass. You can also make companion planting more simple with raised beds. For example, our bell pepper plants are next to the basil, which helps deter certain bugs.
strawberries in raised bed...much easier to reach juicy berries and control where runners go. Drawbacks of this for strawberries is that there isn't a lot of room for more organic growth. The runners aren't able to start more new plants, as the space is far more contained.
green beans in a raised bed..harvesting the beans is much faster and easier when the beds are a big higher off the ground. It is easier for the kids to help when they don't have to walk all over the dirt or mud to help harvest.
