Help give this front porch some TLC

We purchased this home a year and a half ago. It was built in 1999, a beautiful 2 story farm house with a lovely wrap around porch. The front and back doors, shutters, porch railing, and garage door (white) need a good coat of paint but I am at a loss as to what color to paint them all. I'd really love to do this house justice by really adding to it's striking beauty. I've read to pick out a color in the brick and use that but when I get to the store to find a color, I come home with something that doesn't work. Any ideas or suggestions to complement the brick and style?
Our front porch is in need of some TLC! The front door and shutters are painted green but years of sun and weather has caused the green to fade.

Irish, your home looks lovely. Do you by any chance have a bigger picture? This one is small which makes the details a bit hard to make out...
  • The white railings and trim give a great contrast and really brighten up the brick. As for the door and shutters many times you paint the front door a color that POPS and you love that makes you feel good and the shutters a complimentary color. It is hard to see how the shutters look on the brick but you do not want red shutters with all that red brick. Maybe go more gray on the shutters? and maybe a vibrant blue on the front door? I would also drive around and capture what other color schemes are too (pictures do not always catch the true colors). good luck

Hi @Miriam I, Thank you! I will update with some other photos, tomorrow. @The Garden Frog with C Renee I do agree the white railings and trim help to contrast the brick but the white is also incredibly stark. I guess that's what bothers me to some degree. I'd like to see softer contrast, and a gray color, as you point out, would soften the look while still adding to the contrast.

With the farmhouse style, rocking chairs are always a great compliment to the style. I like them painted white, but the varnished ones work well too. You can change out the cushions with different colors for different seasons or just leave them bare. Then add a few scattered small tables, some pots with flowers, hanging baskets, a rug or two...and of course some trinkets like a cute birdhouse! If your porch wraps around, a bed/swing hanging by a rope is adorable at one end.

I would paint the shutters black and inside trim white. Possible black or red front door. I would do it all in a satin finish. Soooooo love this home. You are a lucky lady!

stick with the white except for charcoal grey on the garage door and the shutters stay in the blue grey tones unless your brick has a LOT of yellow in it.
