DIY Upholstered Bench

Let's talk about high end furniture for a second. We all love to look at it, and dream, but most of us can't afford it right? Well look no further, because I made a very cool high end looking upholstered bench for free! Yep FREE!!! Yippee!
While helping my sister with a closet/laundry room makeover I decided she needed a bench. The whole thing was made from free pallet wood, an old crib mattress, a piece of left over floor underlayment, and fabric my sister had bought to make pillows with (but never had)! Not bad eh? A beautiful high end piece for just a few hours of work...that is my kind of project!

Choosing the pallets that I wanted to use. The legs were from one pallet (on table) and the rest was wood from the pallet in the grass.
I built the end pieces then attached long apron boards
To make a useful shelf on the bottom I simply nailed on slats. This wood it so beautiful!
Thinking I would use the pad from an old crib mattress I found springs...what?
I ended up using the pad that was wrapped around the springs and it worked just as well.
Staple on the padding and fabric to board. I used a scrap piece of floor underlayment.

It has tons of room for great storage!

And...you can't beat the rustic goodness of the pallet wood. It is so pretty!
