Retro Chair Resurrection With Spray Paint

I purchased these retro looking chairs at a thrift store. They have a white vinyl seat cushion that was in perfect condition. They metal on the other hand had some rust and needed some tlc. With a couple coats of primer, paint, and top coat, these retro chairs have a new life to them.
I used a gold colored spray paint.
Aren't these chairs flippin amazing? I love them so much.
Here's what they look like in our kitchen.
The first step was taking apart the seat from the chair. I found out that Virtue Brothers is a company in California and were known for selling a lot of furniture in the 50's and 60's.
With soap and water I hosed down the chairs and got all of the grim and dirt off of them. The second thing I did was get a wire brush and rough up the metal a bit, so the primer would really stick to the metal. After this I did two coats of primer and paint and top coat.

What kind of soap/detergent did you use to clean the chairs? I'm planning to paint a wire bookshelf that spent a lot of time in a smoker's home.

    Beautiful job on the chairs!
