Reverse Decal on wood sideboard - should I repaint?

I just recently did this midcentury sideboard in white and decided I would do something different by preserving some of the natural walnut wood grain as a design. I used adhesive paper to mask out the design and then painted over it. I usually refinish midcentury modern furniture but most of the veneer on this piece was beat. I'm not getting a lot of interest in this piece and am thinking even though I like it, maybe its not something other people would want. Solid white seems to be a favourite with people do you think I should I repaint it a solid colour.

Personally, I love it! I would definitely stop and take a second and third look. I think it's adorable.

I like it too but if you are going to sell it you are better to stick to something that is more appealing to 'everyman' so to speak and that tends to be white or another solid colour rather than stencil which is not to everyone's taste. I found this out for myself the hard way when I have tried something new on a piece and found it difficult or nigh on impossible to sell.

I love this piece! I'd say instead of re-painting maybe expose a bit more wood-like the doors or possibly the center panel to make the reverse stencils pop! Patience :) Someone will love it!

You did a great job with the stenciling! You could paint each door a different shade of brown or other earth tones to go with the brown stencil. Vertical wide stripes on the doors in the same brown as the stenciling would look awesome. Have fun!

Like the design on the top. Don't care for flower design on the sides. I'd paint the sides first to see what reaction you get. Perhaps a more creamy colour would be more harmonious with the dark brown design.

I think it's very appealing and different and unique! I had a customer recently want something similar repainted. Mine didn't turn out anywhere near as beautiful as yours or as original as yours! I painted it black. They were using it for a media cabinet.

I like it as well. It might have been interesting to leave the side doors to match the stencil work. I like the top, but the front is pretty plain.

I would leave it for a while longer as is and maybe tell folks that if they want it painted all white, then you can do this..... just include that in the price. I think it just needs more exposure.... not a change to all white.

I like it. But maybe the knobs could be more decorative.

I would like to see some of the 'squiggle' work on the front panels as well. May be only the center one. You don't want it to get too busy.

I think it's lovely and has character. The right person just hasn't come along yet. But if you can't wait for that person, by all means try something different.

I think you've gotten a lot of good suggestions. I totally agree that the solid white front is boring and something that goes with the brown on the top and sides might help get it some attention.
