Add Trim to Doors and Windows for More Curb Appeal

We wanted to update the boat house so that it looked more like the main house. The original cinderblock building was completely utilitarian and lacked curb appeal.
To draw your eye away from the large expanse of wall, and to make the small aluminum doors and windows a focal point, we added trim boards to the windows and doors.
The original windows had large brick windowsills which we painted white so that it looked like it was all part of the trim (we didn't actually have to add a board to the bottom). Because this is a boat house and is exposed to quite a bit of moisture we used Mira-tek engineered wood.
Once the boards were secured to the walls (using concrete fasteners) we caulked and painted to give it a seamless look.
The total cost for the entire boat house (9 windows and 3 doors) was under $200. More detailed instructions as well as additional step by step photos can be found at the link below.
