Chalk Painted Pink and Gold Mason Jars - Almost a Craft Fail...

This little project was almost a craft fail... I had a vision of spray painting gold, then chalk painting the pink, then distressing it to show the gold underneath. Well, I ended up distressing off a lot of my gold too. Oh well, I think I 'rescued' them with some gold wax...
With the gold wax they almost look a little more coral then hot pink... prettier I think
The materials - mason jars, gold spray paint, Cherry Blossom Chalk Paint (Country Chic) and gold wax (Country Chic)
Once they had a good couple coats of gold I let them dry overnight and then used my Cherry Blossom Chalk paint - two coats.
The next day, time to distress. My light 'sanding' took them down to the glass again in most spots - a little bit of gold peeked through. Not quite my original vision!! (I have had tips to distress almost right away using a damp cloth, and also to use a little Vaseline before painting the second color as it will allow for easy distressing).
I used some gold wax to "rescue" them and give them a warm, coral look

If you use Vasolene under the pink to help with distressing, won't that make the pink subject to wiping off later? Does Vasolene ever really dry? I love the craft and I'm going to try it. Thanks 😇
