Odor from kitchen sink

There is a noticeable odor when standing over the kitchen sink. We have had the drain line cleared and water runs out fine. There is a double sink and double trap. The odor is more noticeable at the left sink which is adjacent to the dishwasher. Could the problem have anything to do with the septic tank possibly needing cleaning? The commodes flush fine.

Dump some baking soda down the drain and pour in some vinegar.
  • The drain pipe for the dishwasher connects above the trap of the sink. If your getting a foul odor out of that sink, its likely that there is an issue with the drain from the dishwasher. Also there should only be one trap for both sinks, a double trap can cause one or the other to drain when water is drained from the other sink. If you pour about a cup or so of water down each sink slowly let is set for about a half hour then come back to see if the odor remains. If its gone away, you need to repipe the trap properly.
