How can I win the war of the carpenter bees?

The carpenter bees have consumed my carport. I' e been treating once a week for 2 weeks, and plan to continue to do so. What I really want to know is how can I keep them from coming back? The holes have been covered/filled in the past and they just keep coming back! This year has been the worst ever, it has become a huge negative impact on mine and my neighbors quality of life. HELP!

The first thing your doing right is to keep at them. The wood on the carport should be painted well. Carpenter bees tend not to attack painted wood. Many of the young continue to come back to repeat the life cycle where they were born. Once that cycle is gone the issue should diminish. Also if your neighbors also have them, they need to be addressed as well. If there has been extreme damage to the wood trims and structural members you may need to have the wood replaced by a professional. If you do that and properly paint and seal the new wood, you will have removed the issue. I had the same issue with a small porch overhang. It took me a long time to get rid of them. Filling the holes with insect powder and small amounts of steel wool followed by wood putty and paint eventually stopped them from nesting. I still see them flying around looking for their old neighborhood but I removed their rights to live without paying rent. The other method is to simply pay a pro to remove them. .

Get a brown grocery bag fill with plastic grocery bags shape like a hornets nest and hang where you see them. Scares them away!!

Carpenter bees will inhabit an old hole. It's important o seal the holes after treating. www.thebugstore.net
