Are nematodes naturally present in the soil ? If so how can you encourage more ? Why do you have to buy them ? I hate Japanese beetles and fleas I read they will kill both and more . Does anyone know how effective this treatment works ? Also grubs are destroying my lawn.

  • Here is an informative article http://www.sodco.net/tips-and-resources/grubs Grubs also bring moles and then voles. Some Grubs are also the result from Japanese beetles so eradicating them is beneficial. Nematodes are present in soil and there are good ones and bad ones and if the balance is off you can see plants dying from gall or rotting roots. Fish Fertilizer is awesome stuff that can help put back the balance of good nematodes in the soil. As far as fleas and other "bad" insects, you need to look into Diatomaceous Earth. Good luck and Happy gardening!

@Bonnie Bassett we purchase nematodes from Home Depot. They carry them for various issues, we buy them to control grubs in our lawn. Have been using them for several years and no more problems. We reapply every year, will be time again in a couple of weeks.

We buy beneficial nematodes from Garden's Alive. They work wonderfully well to help control and eliminate both cut worms and Japanese beetle larva. Relatively inexpensive and easy to apply.

http://www.arbico-organics.com/ has nematodes. I just sprayed my yard to control fleas. Much less expensive that Home Depot.
