Have you ever tried using chalk paint? Annie Sloan is a good choice! You do not have to sand or prep your piece when using chalk paint and she has amazing colors! I hope this helps. : ) You could also take sand paper and run it along the edges to give it an old weathered look! It just depends what you want it to look like. You may also want to put some unique hardware on it such as crystal knobs maybe! Again it depends where the piece is going and what look you are going for. Happy painting!

Another suggestion would be to stain the top dark and use a cream colored chalk paint on the rest! I think that would be really pretty! For the mirror, I would chalk paint it cream and lightly sand over the design, then rub the smallest amount of stain over the part where you sanded just to give it depth and interest.
  • this is an incredible piece...I would just sand lightly and use a clear finish...it looks like oak...don't cover the grain....& you can always use the mirror separately, if the sm shelf is not good use black paint on shelf only...if the drawers are too plain for you ,you can stencil in a dark stain...the mirror would be great in an entrance way
