Nightstand Makeover With Metallic Glaze

When I first got my hands on these nightstands, they lacked a lot in the style department!
Totally 80s. Totally boring. Totally worn out.
But they were well made -- solid wood construction from a North Carolina-based furniture company. So I decided to give them a little pick me-up. But I didn't use paint or stain.
I gave them the black coffee treatment -- Martha Stewart Black Coffee glaze, that is.
Did you know you could paint furniture with glaze?
Well, I'm here to tell you you can. You can get the full how-to on my blog.
The secret is in prep and patience!
These nightstands turned out fabulous. The client I painted them for is planning to change out the hardware with something more up-to-date.
I can't wait to paint more furniture with glaze.
I transformed these mismatched 1980s solid wood nightstands using Martha Stewart Metallic Glaze
Before their makeover, theese nightstands were boring and bland and showing their age.
Each nightstand required several coats of glaze and ample drying time.
I love the beautiful sheen of Martha Stewart Metallic Glaze in black coffee.

Love this color and idea of using the glaze as the paint color. They look gorgeous!! I have a very similar end table, but the top has a piece of veneer on it instead of wood. Would this glaze work or would I have to use a primer first? If I used a primer first, would the color come out looking different? Sorry for all the questions. ~Nicole~
