Dresser Without Drawers, Roadside Rescue Gets New Look!

Dresser missing drawers found on the side of the road gets a new makeover with and Free crates found in a dumpster, add some wheels, and I have a completely new piece!
This dresser started out in pretty poor condition. Missing drawers, wobbly, but I could see amazing amounts of potential. I just needed a lot of patience to get it there!
This is how the piece looked when I found it. I knew it could go on to live another life even without those drawers
These crates were found in a dumpster after a shoe repair company in my town went out of business. They were clean and solid. Perfect for what I had in mind with my dresser without drawers.
I removed the inner drawer supports for the remaining drawers. Pulled a LOT of staples with it. I cut and glued a piece of MDF to create a shelf area where the drawers had been. I painted the top of the piece with an aluminum spray paint and used an aging glaze to give it a weathered look. I added a piece of MDF to the bottom of the dresser and added wheels to give this piece more functionality.
I painted the drawers and the body of the dresser in CeCe Caldwells Smokey Mountain Blue and Blue Montana Sky. I used a "cross hatch" method where I overlapped the colors to create dimension and texture.
I painted the crates in CeCe Caldwell's Vintage white and added the numbers using a freezer paper transfer method. I also added trim to the bottom that was free to me from a dumpster dive as well! The paint received a thin coat of the aging glaze and then waxed with CeCe Caldwell's clear wax for protection. I was so pleased with the finished result, the layers of paint and the glaze added dimension. I love that this piece was made almost entirely of things bound for a dump. It was purchased by a young mother to use as a dresser and storage for her baby's things. I couldn't be happier with this creation.
