Simple Roman Shade

Have guests coming in this weekend, but your windows are less than dressed? Whip up this simple roman shade in a pinch with a bit of fabric and some wide ribbon.
We recently had new windows installed in our home. Unfortunately that meant that all of the blinds that were in place when we bought the house came down with the old windows. It didn't make a lot of sense to put all of the blinds back up because they were pretty worn. This wasn't a problem for most of the "unused" spaces in our house until I realized that my guest bathroom was without a shade for when my family came to stay with me.
So I whipped up this simple roman shade in just a few minutes. All it took was sewing a little pocket at the top for the curtain rod and hemming the sides/bottom for a clean finish.
After the curtain was finished, I sewed the ribbon in place about a quarter of the way in on either side of the shade. Leave the ends loose so you have extra length to tie up your shade to the desired height. It's that easy! Check out my blog for full details!

Just the idea I needed. Kitchen windows get the afternoon sun and heats up the house in our hot summers. Removed the old blinds when we moved in and hadn't gotten around to replacing. Now that it's over 100 degrees it's time to do something quick. This looks like the perfect fix. Thanks for the idea.
