I have a collection of vintage doilies that are in pristine condition. Rather than cutting these into pieces I like to use them in ways that preserve them in their original state.
Fresh French Lavender Sachet
I used a round vintage doily with a generous tatted edge to weave a ribbon through and then placed a scoopful of lavender inside.
To close off the sachet I merely tied a nice snug bow with the ribbon ~ the scent is heavenly.
This is a better view of the ribbon woven through the edge of the doily. When doing this it's best to use a doily or linen with am widely tatted edge.

Gayle Huffman on Mar 09, 2015Thank you! I know it will bring back great memories as some of these were made by my grandmother. Just glad to have a way to use them.
