Question

Does anyone know if this is a tree or bush? It just appeared a few years ago and I didn't cut it because the flowers are pretty. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that's a Honeysuckle vine. It can grow into a large shrub if not trimmed.

It will grow like crazy. So, make sure you trim it back. The flowers will be plentiful

I too think immediately of Honeysuckle when I see the flowers on it.

Honeysuckle. If it came up on its own, it very likely is an Asian species which will also make it invasive. Amur honeysuckle is a big problem in central Indiana and gets very large, choking out our native plants.

I agree. It's a honeysuckle. Technically a shrub/bush but will become tree-like when left to grow on it's own. Enjoy it :)

I agree it's some type of honeysuckle and it grows prolifically. Will also grow like a vine across a fence. It does smell wonderful and it kills me that since I had sinus surgery I've lost most of my sense of smell and have to stick my nose in a blossom to smell it at all.

It appears to be a honeysuckle shrub, and some can grow tall as the one in the photo. There are 2 types of honeysuckle - shrub or vine. We had a honeysuckle vine in our yard when we were growing up, and it became so entwined in the decorative metal fence it was growing on that if you had wanted to remove the honeysuckle vine, you would have had to remove the fence, too! I think the shrub version is much more attractive - and less maintenance than the vine. ~M
