I want to make curtains for my French country home and people have said that the burlap gives off a lot of dust. Is this true?

Just read the above link. Can't improve on that. I will tell you that handling burlap is very hard on your hands... Have you considered using paint drop cloth like at Sherwin Williams? Very affordable, lots of texture, a little more refined

When I was young my brother turned a school bus int RV. there were sooo many windows that needed curtains, my mother suggested burlap fed sacks, my father has oodles of them since he was a farmer. They took them to a launromat, washed and dyed them then made FANTASTIC curtains from them, they lasted almost forever. the thing is to get rid of dust and some stiffness is to wash and dry the burlap first, be prepaired for alot of shrinkage.
