Help, how can I incorporate DVD player, satellite box into this design

We are building a lake cabin with a fireplace design as pictured. In our cabin, the fireplace will be in a corner with windows on both sides. Due to all of the windows, the only place we can install the tv is above the fireplace. We need design ideas to incorporate the DVD player and satellite box. I don't want to set them on the mantle or on the hearth. I'm wondering if it is possible to install some kind of a wooden hinged top on the hearth so we can store the electronics within the hearth area? My thought is that when doing the rock work, we could build in some kind of a small metal grate in front of the hearth for the electronics to receive the remote signal and have ventilation. Looking for design ideas, thanks!!

  • Direct TV now has a wireless system where the box does not need to be set in the same location as the TV, It is not infrared where the control need to see the device its working. It works on radio waves so you can be in another room with the control and turn on and off the TV and DVD DVR player.

A friend of mine had a tv size box built into the rock work to keep the tv front even with the rock face, then had a one way framed glass put over the tv. When the tv is not on it is simply a mirror.
