Choosing Between A Pond And A Spa
Long Island Hot Tub specializes in portable spas, but we are frequently asked to do a custom project. Originally, the owners of this 8’x10’ custom vinyl in-ground spa/waterfall were interested in having a water feature -- possibly a fish pond and waterfall -- in their backyard. However, they later decided to have us install a beautiful pond-sized spa, as a place to soak and relax, even in winter.
There is no doubt that sitting or strolling beside one’s own backyard fish pond is a very relaxing experience. You can stop and mediate, watch the fish as they swim about, and dine ‘al fresco’ next to such a peaceful setting. However, if you have to choose between watching something that is relaxing, and actually experiencing the healing massage jets of hydrotherapy, the decision was a no brainer for these clients.
Once the clients let go of their initial idea of a fish pond and waterfall, we designed and built this spa, with a therapeutic raised waterfall, that would massage their shoulders as they sit in warm bubbling waters. The spa allows for a year-round experience -- something a larger swimming pool would not. Its vinyl padding is also extremely comfortable.
All our hard work and imagination paid off when our company proudly accepted a Gold Medal in the 2005 Northeast Pool and Spa Association’s Design Awards and a Silver Medal in the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals 2005 International Award of Excellence for this project.

Spa Landscaping
Creeping evergreen ground covers cascade and wind over and between moss rocks. Plants display color from April through October and the whole design flows beautifully into the back property; skip laurels add privacy to this backyard spa retreat.
Custom In-ground Vinyl Spa
The waterfall keeps spa cool in the summer and hot during the evenings or cold winter months -- all without the size and maintenance requirements of a full-sized pool. The beautiful new Techo-Bloc pavingstone (Elena in Sandlewood) is durable and will withstand a lot of activity and weather changes.
Spa Water Feature
The concept was to create a functional and beautiful pond-sized inground spa that could be used even in winter.Rushing stream that flows through large moss rock boulders and lush plantings, creates soothing waterfall to be enjoyed while soaking in spa.
Natural Gas Campfire
Natural gas campfire brings a soft and welcoming glow while adding warmth. With it, the residents can enjoy a cozy fire without the hassle of smoke and the inconvenience of having to build one by scratch. Outdoor breezes blow across its flames, creating warm puffs of air and soft flickering light.
