My daughter is looking for a low growing perennial plant for shade that blooms all summer. Is there such a thing!?

Vinca maybe? I'm putting some in and know it has sweet purple flowers… I think the flowers stick around.
  • Yellow corydalis/Corydalis lutea, Lamium which can rebloom sporadically through the summer, perennial geranium but she needs to look to hostas, japanese painted ferns, Astilbe, coral bells, Brunnera, Lungwort, Toad Lily, and even Japanese Forestgrass for interesting colors and textures in shade gardens. There are so many options for color, texture, size in shade gardens

Impatiens are lovely--shades of red, white and pink. They will bloom all summer but the drawback is that they are annuals.

The key to perennials is to use a variety to acheive bloom throughout each season. As The Garden Frog Boutique suggests, using plants with different textures and colors adds extra dimension to the garden that will make it pop!

Dicentra eximia, fringed bleed heart, is about the longest-blooming shade perennial I know of.

Hostas may work and you can get miniatures but they don't bloom all summer. Most perennials do not bloom all summer. The exception would be roses or lilies. Right now because of drought like conditions in northern Ohio I have planted zinnias and a wildflower mix of seeds in large pots and have interspersed them among my perennials. I only have to water the pots. They don't take a lot of work that way but do bring color to my flower garden.
