Tin Bird House - I Am Not Sure What It's Original Purpose Was.

While walking the neighberhood one day, I noticed birds nesting in a black wall mounted mail box. I found this one in a second hand shop.
Not pretty but I think some feathered family will be starting off here someday. Watering spots, trees & feeders near by. Location, location.
Great view.
Very roomy inside

Love it!!! I think it was an old newspaper box. Leave it just the way it is! (Don't listen if people tell you to paint it!) Maybe put a bit of cotton, long dried grass and some twine in there so they get the hint that it's an open house and available on the market.

@Michelle Kolbenstetter - painting it never crossed my mind - 1- they always peel & most paints are not safe for birds. Thanks to the nesting material, ideas - house warming gift ( : LOL
  • To attract the birds especially wrens who love to build their nests in odd places, make sure the intended bird house is free from debris. Birdhouses need to be cleaned so that other birds or even the returning birds will use it again. Putting nesting materials around for the birds is a great idea. Good luck with new tenants!

@The Garden Frog with C Renee I always thought cleaning was preffers but our wild finches & sparrows don't seem to mind. I had clean & empty bird houses for years that never had a bird visit or stay in - but they do in the used ones for three years now.
