Americana Door Art

Memorial Day is such a wonderful day to celebrate the lives of those loved ones that have passed and for those whom serve/served our country! Since is here and is right around the corner, I wanted to add some red, white & blue colors to my porch-scape.
I got the idea from a cute Pottery Barn stars and stripes pillow. The best part of this project is that it was made from all scraps and leftovers and took about an hour + dry time to make.
I started with a pallet, here's a video for tips on disassembling a pallet and leaving nail holes for character. http://wp.me/p4nAWk-de

I spaced the pallet slats about 1/4" apart and traced the pattern (available here http://wp.me/p4nAWk-kq ) onto the wood.
Cut out the wood using a scroll saw, band saw or jig saw.

I painted the wood with spare paint and stain that I had on hand.
See blog post at the bottom for the rest of the tutorial.
