WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT PAINT COLOR MATCHING

DIY Fun Ideas
by DIY Fun Ideas
I created a really cool silver leaf look on some closet doors using paint (check out my Hometalk posts for tutorial) and I was looking to find just the right paint color for the walls to complement the faux silver leaf.
One color I really liked that was recommended to me is the brand color used by Tiffany.com. So I headed over to Home Depot and asked them to color match the color from my cell phone. They told me they can't do that. Basically, they said that due to phone screen resolutions, I probably won’t get an accurate color match. So I thought I’d go home and print the color sample. Well, I was then told that that doesn’t work either, unless you have a super high resolution professional printer. Apparently, depending on the pixels it is again likely that the color matching won't be accurate. They did ask if I could bring in a Tiffany box to use for the color match, at which point I just laughed figuring that if I had a few extra Tiffany boxes laying around the house, I’d be sending my butler out for the samples.
On the image above, the Tiffany color is on the left.

I did find another color that was pretty close to the Tiffany color. It's the color on the right side of the image. It was the closest I could find to the Tiffany color.

Here's the faux silver leaf doors I am looking to complement...
I will be revealing the makeover shortly, so make sure to follow me here on Hometalk so you don't miss the final reveal.
